Easter Decorations

I wanted to share with you a few decorations that I have around my home for Easter.

Even though many people focus on rabbits, eggs, Easter egg hunts, and spring flowers.

Let's not forget, Jesus is the reason for the season!

Something's Fishy

I have had this idea in my mind, then in my sketchbook about a fish for a little while. I finally decided it was time to add a new creature to my collection of images. This painting is inspired by the adorable movie Finding Nemo. My children adored this movie, in fact so did I when it first came out many years ago. I just need to add a few more finishing touches to the painting for it to be all complete. I plan on making a clock and magnet this week. They will be available in my shop very soon.

A Peek Inside My Sketchbook

Here are a few sketches I wanted to show you since it is now officially spring.

I call this sketch peppermint flower.

I am so amazed by God's beautiful creation. That is why I enjoy creating beautiful scenes of nature so much. Even though I am an allergy sufferer, the spring season, reminds me of new beginnings and hope.

Let's Paint!

I shared with a few of you my goals for this year. I am going to try starting a mobile painting party business. This concept is becoming more and more popular with a physical studio that has public or private parties. My idea is to take my studio to people's homes, businesses, clubhouses, or schools.

I have been working on several samples to have for the host to pick for the party. Here are just a few examples I will compile for my portfolio.

As the instructor I will give art instruction step by step to the group on how to create their very own masterpiece. Here is a a brochure I designed to give to potential customers.

New Landscape Painting

I completed this painting last month, and just need to sign it, then take to my local gallery to have on sale. I will also make this into an inspirational block and maybe magnet. I'm thinking of naming this painting New Horizons. Do you have any suggestions of titles? What inspirational message should I use?

Ode to Racing

I have been taking forever to complete this painting for my son's room. I must admit that cars are not a subject that inspires me much. I was intimidated by the reflections in the car, and having everything look just right. I am used to more organic girly subject matter. I was determined that inspite of my lack interest with the car thing, I was going to finish this painting. I knew my son would be so excited to have this in his room. He is thrilled to have this on his wall. Now my next project is painting this wall baby blue.

Featuring Mary Freeman

Mary has been a blogger friend of mine for the past three years. Check out her blog here. Our paths have crossed several times, but unfortunately we have not met each other in person. Hopefully that will change this week since we are planning to meet for coffee.

Most of Mary’s work comes from her processing internal issues and time spent in quiet reflection. Mary developed her style through trial and error and experimentation.

Mary began making cards and prints of her journal pages and paintings in 2010. She also leads visual journaling workshops at her church and to small groups in her home studio. Mary teaches several techniques for creating backgrounds, but her main focus is on what she calls heart work. Getting down on the page what's going on inside is her main focus. She is continually amazed to see how putting down paint and using various supplies can facilitate the "seeing". Mary has also led workshops in several retreat settings. She always has a journal prompt available to help begin the process.

Along with her painting Mary loves to read, decorate, and re-arrange furniture in her home and other friends’ homes. Mary was featured with her reflections of faith and thoughts in an online magazine called Sprout.

Mary is generously offering one of my readers three cards from her shop A Splendid Adventure. The winner can pick them. Just leave a comment for a chance to win. The winner will be announced next Monday.
