Inside my sketchbook

Last year I shared with you before a book I read called "Praying in Color" it was written by author Sybil MacBeth. I also shared this with a few women how to pray in color at my local church.

I wanted to share a few pages from my sketchbook.

The book started when Sybil started to sketch on her porch. She was burdened by the needs of a family and church member who were very ill. She began writing down there names and praying for them while she sketched. She continued to do practice this during her quiet time. By sketching this help her to focus for a longer period time while praying.

Later she started to share this with other women at her local church. She decided to write a book on this special way to pray in a creative form. Sybil also shares this around the country at workshops.

This would be a great book to share with several friends at church or your home. Your children will love this as you try to develop their prayer life. This in no way replaces traditional prayer, but can be another form you can add to your day.

  2. I love this idea! I'm encouraged to begin this journey. I've never been great at journaling but I love to draw and meditate on scripture. I often visualize while praying, this seems so logical to put it on paper and then be able to go back and revisit those prayers and see how God answered them.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea.

  3. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this post. Thank you for sharing this wonderful resources! I couldn't believe it; there is actually something out there that combines two of my greatest passions - drawing and praying. However, I am often discouraged with my prayer times because my mind is so prone to wander. I can't wait to pick up a copy of this book and explore it some more.

  4. That's right Mary thanks for sharing about the other books.

Cindi and Angela I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. I have a friend who does this while she is waiting for her plane to depart. She says it has enriched her prayer life.
