Let's Paint Painting Party

Many of you know that I have been teaching online for the past year. I have also taught through an  arts organization many years ago. Recently I taught at a local after school program and workshop at our local school. I came across a business in the city that was teaching private parties at peoples homes, so I began thinking why not give this concept a try. I decided in the fall to have over a few friends, so I began collecting easels, paints, aprons and brushes. I had hoped to do this earlier, but the kiddos and other family activities have delayed my plans.

We first sketched our still life onto the canvas. Tricia had not drawn in years.

Georgette and Felicia began applying their paint to the canvas.

Theresa and Diane sketching out their still life.

Their finished work of art all complete.

We all enjoyed eating, talking and creating together!

I already had a finished painting to show them what we would be painting.

  1. Very nice. Mine would not have turned out as well as theirs....I admire artists. My brother is a phenomenal artist in many genres....so I am familiar with the process just lack the talent to make it happen myself. Great job! Looks like a fun day.

  6. What a great idea! They all did great - you are obviously an excellent teacher.

My beadweaving began with a friend doing that for me and it has become a fun passion! I'm so thankful for her patience.

  10. That sure looks like fun! I had a class like that at school the other day (the art teacher was away sick). But I had 24 teenage students! And their still life included a ladder. And it was three o'clock on a Friday afternoon! I don't know how those art teachers manage!

  11. Wow, Mechelle! That's so great! Did they work from your finished painting, or an actual still life, or photos? I ask because everyone has the same perspective... seems as if it was a lot of fun! If I lived close, I'd definitely go to a class of yours :)
