Abstract painting to functional art

Several years ago I decided to make my original work into a clock to sell at shows and in my Etsy shop. I made this abstract painting many years ago. I took a picture of it, then cropped it.

Then I digitally add numbers to the image to make it into a functional art clock.

Ode to Racing

I have been taking forever to complete this painting for my son's room. I must admit that cars are not a subject that inspires me much. I was intimidated by the reflections in the car, and having everything look just right. I am used to more organic girly subject matter. I was determined that inspite of my lack interest with the car thing, I was going to finish this painting. I knew my son would be so excited to have this in his room. He is thrilled to have this on his wall. Now my next project is painting this wall baby blue.

December Giveaway

Christmas art block.

inspirational art

Last year I started selling these blocks at a local arts festival, and received great response. It is a print of my original mounted on painted wood. The block can be placed on a desk, shelf, or table top. It would be great as a hostess gift, stocking stuffer or holiday decoration for your home. You can place it on a mini easel or stand up on its own.

I am offering one of these art blocks to one of my readers. Just leave a comment of which one that you like best for a chance to win. The winner will be announced next Monday.

Nostalgic Ads
I had the opportunity to go to downtown Atlanta to visit the new World of Coke Museum. The museum relocated a few blocks, to be next to the Georgia Aquarium several years ago. We decided to take the kids and my mom who is visiting with us. I wanted to show you some of the beautiful artwork that adorned the walls.

Charming Savannah

My family and I visited the beautiful city of Savannah for a few days during my kids spring break. The city is so charming, and inviting whenever I come for a visit to this historic place. It gives me the feel of New Orleans with the beautiful historic buildings and gorgeous magnolias draped with Spanish Moss. Here are a few sights we got to see.

World of Whimsy

I was having a few problems with one of my disk drives that my technician i.e. husband had to fix. He still needs to get the computer fully working properly.

I wanted to share with you that I got together a few artist from 1000 Markets to compose a whimsical themed market within 1000 Markets. We have been in the planning stages for months, bouncing back many ideas. The last several weeks we have been putting together our market site and finally went live last week. Our market has artist, jewelry designers, paper products from graphic artist and even a cartoonist to name a few. We are continuing to add a few more people with our uplifting images. Be sure to come take a look at our site. Our tag line is " A Fanciful Way to Brighthen your Day"

My Art Journal

I have been taking an online class with Paulette Insall. I had never heard of art journaling before so I thought I would give it a try. It does require thinking through what your theme is going to be so you have to find images in magazines or over the internet to complete your pages. My first page has images of my favorite artist. The second page I used a Bible scripture to depict an image for the verse. I'm already working on my second page now. Will keep you posted on my progress

I Love My Java

I made these little coffee cups to go hang up in my kitchen. If your a coffee lover like me these make the perfect accent to a room. I painted the pair on a heavy muslin, then I sewed the front and back together. I padded the inside with some batting, then added a circular plastic ring on the back by hand sewing on the back of the cup to hang on the wall. I think they are so cute!

This painting is the largest painting I have ever created (approximately 48" x 36"). It hangs very proudly over my mantle and fireplace in the living room. This style I am currently working on is reminiscent of a stained glass window. I painted the first layer with textured medium to add dimension then a base color of brown, then I added various colors but allowed some of the brown to show underneath the colors. This really makes the colors more brilliant.

The Art of Living Creatively

Ever since I can remember I loved to draw and paint even as a child. I can't remember a time I was not creating. I have worked in various mediums and continued to explore new approaches and techniques. My career began as a graphic artist for various companies. Later I began to exhibit in art galleries which led to displaying my work in art festivals 15 years ago. The desire for my own creative expression lead me to pursue art shows.

Now as a busy mom of three children, my work has gone back to a more whimsical approach. My children have definitely been a great influence on my style. I hope you're inspired to go out to explore art festivals, galleries and other wonderful creative outlets in your area. Also bring that wonderful unique charm to your home. Don't be afraid to add a splash of color!

I will be showing you my art, as well as that of other artists that I admire, in my blog. I hope you enjoy!
