Creating Away

I have been working on some new pieces this week to add to my shop. I created this abstract painting about a month ago, then I added some digital type to create it into an art block. This is a good reminder that throughout the day we need to pray for our family, friends, country, church and church body acround the world.

I decided to create this poster yesterday after attending bible study. One of the women shared how she tries to extend others grace, but so often does not give herself that same grace when she messes up. The study is called "Unglued," which is written by Lysa Terkeurst. She explains that we are in the process of being chiseled by God as we journey through our Christian walk. This process takes time, as we allow the Lord to change us. This poster is a humorous reminider that this process isn't quick, easy or simple. But it sure can be some fun, if we allow ourselves to sometime laugh along the way.

I want to think of this poster as a sweet inspiration.

This weekend we are having a girls conference for tweens and teens. The conference is called "Be Mine." They will be discussing different topics like personality traits, purity, peer pressure to name a few.

I created this little poster from one of my sketches as a gift for the girls to take home. This will hopefully remind them how precious they are.

Spring flower

Today's high only got up to 43 degrees. I felt it only fitting to post something that reminds us of warmer days to come in the spring. Actually in Atlanta that could be next week with this crazy up and down weather.

So even though it is pretty cold now, remember those beautiful flowers will be making their appearance very soon.

Painting on a rainy day

Today is a cool rainy icky day, but it is the perfect time to paint a few new pieces of art. The little red bird would be a perfect for the gallery that represents me to have with Valentine's Day fast approaching. The second piece is an owl that another artist I met at a show suggested I create. She thought something a little more neutral colors for boys would be nice. So, I decided to give it a try.

A Look Back on the Holidays

Our family enjoyed the holiday time, and a chance to unwind. Todd took off work during the kid's Christmas break so it allowed us all a time to rest.

My mom came up to celebrate the holidays with us from Florida. During our Christmas break we went to the movie theatre a couple of times, ate of lot of yummy food, after Christmas shopping and watched countless movies at home during the wee hours of the night.

Talu enjoyed days full of begging to a house full of family.

Todd enjoyed all his presents during the frenzy of everyone unwrapping their gifts.

The kids showing off their Disney hats they got during our trip to the Magic Kingdom during Thanksgiving break.

I look forward to new year of creativity and new ideas to share with you all! Happy 2013!

Christmas Cheers and yummy treat

I wanted to wish all of my followers a very Merry Christmas!

I also wanted to share with you an easy holiday treat for neighbors, co-workers, or family. Get a bag of mini Rolos, swirly pretzels, and pecans. Place the pretzels on the pan, then put a Rolo on top of each pretzel. I put my pecans on before to bake with the pretzels. You could actually wait until you take the pan out of the oven, then place the pecans quickly on top of the chocolate while it is still soft. Set your oven at 300 degrees, then bake them for 3 to 4 minutes.

Take them out of the oven, then let them cool for about an hour. Once they a cool you can place them in a treat bag to give as a gift. Simple, easy and yummy! The sweet and salty combination are great.

Abstract painting to functional art

Several years ago I decided to make my original work into a clock to sell at shows and in my Etsy shop. I made this abstract painting many years ago. I took a picture of it, then cropped it.

Then I digitally add numbers to the image to make it into a functional art clock.
