I don't know if you have kids, but last year my child's teacher told them about the magical elves. They come at Thanksgiving and stay a day or two after Christmas and keep your child company. All you have to do is leave a note asking for an elf to come from the Northpole, leave a snack then pray they come. Well, after you get one you better leave them a snack every night or they get into alot of mischief while your sleeping. As you see from this picture our elf was not fed so he took matters into his own hands when we found him in our pantry the next morning.

During the month of December I am promoting my Etsy Paper pal 's shop Ellen. The name of her shop is Just Add Memories. Etsy Paper is a group of artist that support and help promote each other. Each artist creates paper products they sell on Etsy. Come take a look at her incredible shop.
Since we are all trying to stay on a budget these days, I decided to make some Christmas gifts for my kids teachers. I usually make personalized stationery, but I decided to experiment with Sculpey polymer clay. I had not used this in a while so I decided to give a try again.
Another Thanksgiving has gone and passed. I have been sick the whole weekend, but am now starting to feel better. I wanted to show my centerpiece for the holiday. I hope you all had a great weekend with friends and family.
If you are starting your Christmas shopping but want to stay on a budget Edesse Designs is the perfect place to shop. She features unique note books, bound books, calendars and notepads. The images have funky designs like fruit, doughnuts, florals and even meat on the front cover. Check out her shop www.edessedesigns.etsy.com
Since I can not sew a straight line at all I got this idea about 7 years ago to make a pillow, but not the traditional square shop. I played around with a little prototype and then started making larger sizes.
This week I want to feature unique pillows which can make a great accent piece to a bedroom, living room or any room in your home. These are pillows which I have created.
I have been meaning to show pictures of my last show a couple of weeks ago in Norcross. I walked this show last year and determined that this show fit my style of art. So I applied and got in the show! The show is very well organized with very helpful volunteers. The city of Norcross is very quaint with cute little shops and restaurants. There are several new lofts in the area for that downtown feel. You almost feel like your in downtown Atlanta. Even though the sales were definately not as much I had hoped (bank failures happened the week before) I would like to give it a try again next year.
I received an email from another Etsyian about being featured on the front page Saturday. She complimented me and wants to purchase one of my prints soon. I did not actually see the ad but someone copied the page and sent it to me. Being that this is my first time being featured I was completely excited!
I was so excited to get the ACEO (art cards editions and original) card from the very talented artist Danita. She is a fellow Etsy artist I have admired her shop and reading her blog. Danita is my first ACEO I have collected and I hope to collect more artist cards in the future. Here is a great website for more information about art card exchanges http://art-cards.org/chuck.html.
I was so excited to receive my buttons a little over a week ago. I wanted to give away two of my little birdies to someone. Just post a comment to possibly get a chance to win them. I will announce the winner this Thursday October 2nd. Contest ends 7pm EST.
I exhibited in my first fall show this past weekend. Suwanee Day Festival was packed with people. My husband who makes circuit board clocks shared a booth with me. The crowds were pretty steady the whole day. I just sold only small items and my husband sold several clocks. The tear down took way too long, it was actually a nightmare. Our kids were able to help us some when they weren't skateboarding all over.
I was supposed to take a pictures of my booth, but forgot because of all the craziness. This is an older photo of my booth. My booth was much more filled compared to this picture.
To top it off the festival ended with lots of music and fireworks for a great ending. We saw the spectacular fireworks at home from our window.
I was so excited when I opened the package to see buttons of my little birdies in the mail. I ordered them from a fellow etsyian Sassycat. Sara did a fantastic job! My Etsy website is even on the side of the button. If you ever need self promotional material or graphics check out
I got an email from church that the new Worship Arts Director and his family will be featured on Househunters. Several years ago when my youngest was a baby I was shall we say addicted to HGTV! I am a big fan of this channel! Unfortunately I no longer have this channel in my satellite package anymore, but I am so glad I know someone who is on one of the shows I used to watch. HGTV Rocks!!
Happy Monday morning to you. Today is the very first day of school for my kids. So it is so quiet with only one child at home. I wanted to show off one of my pendants listed in my Etsy shop. It was a learning experience working with resin. Hopefully I have mastered the process now.
It is soooo hot outside and the kids are getting restless. I'm not sure what to do, so I decided to go on Youtube to find some instructional on crochet and also macrame'. My daughter and I have had so much fun trying different techniques. We then went to the library and I checked out a book about macrame'. This craft used to be so popular when I was a kid. It's nice to see it making a comeback among the crafters. Last Saturday I woke up and thought my daughter when be on the computer (her usual ritual) but to my amazement she was working on a macrame' bracelet. It's a miracle!! She is even talking about opening up an Etsy shop once she gets better at it.
Here's the book. There are also good demos on Youtube. Check it out
I met Joanna Goldman, who is a very talented artist in one of the Etsy threads several weeks ago. She has very cute whimsical eye catching illustrations. She resides in Montreal Canada where she works fulltime as a Visual Effects artist. In her spare time she has a shop on Etsy. Check it out!
I finally started to paint my daughter's room with a mural. I'm actually only going to do a spot mural due to the fact of limited time due to the fact I am a mom of three active children. I started with an inexpensive Liquitex acrylic paint for the base boards. The entire baseboard has grass sprouting forth, to give it an outdoor feel. I have also drawn butterflies in various places on the wall. I will show you my progress from time to time until completion.
"Can we make funnel cakes?" was my daughter's reply. I have never made funnel cakes before, my only experience with them was at art festivals and carnivals. So I searched the internet for a recipe. The recipe was so easy to make and it ending up being a fun activity for us to do together. The recipe only made about 5 funnel cakes, so next time I am going to double the recipe for more. I did not use a lot of oil, but I used a deep frying pan. I also flipped it over so it was lightly golden brown on both sides.
Here is the recipe if you would like to take a shot at it!
Funnel Cake Ingredients 1 egg 2/3 cup milk 1 1/4 cup flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder
Directions: 1. Beat egg and milk. Mix all other ingredients and slowly add to the egg mixture, beating until smooth.
2. Using a funnel, drop into hot oil working from center outwards. Remove from the oil when golden brown and crispy.
Happy July 4th everyone! I wish you all a safe and fun day with family and friends. The winner of my first contest is Daisytoad! Thank you for the others who also posted and admire my work. Check back to my blog for other contest in the future.
I will be giving away one of magnets titled "I Can Fly". All you have to do is post a comment, and I will randomly pick a winner from the list. The contest starts today July 2nd and will end tomorrow July 3rd by 9pm. I will send a note to the winner and post it on my blog!
After many years of dragging my husband to art festivals and exhibiting myself in art shows he started creating clocks. He is an engineer and designs circuit boards at work. He started to transform these parts that would other wise be thrown into the trash. I tried not to say anything, but I had to put some suggestions in. He at first was not to open to the idea, but then allowed me to use my creative talent. Voila here is the result!
I am continuing on with my series of fanciful bird series. Birds come in all different shapes and sizes. They are a beauty to behold. I believe they reflect God's awesome beauty and grace. I hope you enjoy my take on these beautiful creatures!
I look forward to creating more of my creatures as I prepare for art festivals in the fall. I hope they bring tons of smiles to those who see them.
I hope my birds express my passion for art like Laurel Burchs' cats have for many who have followed her career over the years. I have long been a admirer of her work! I was so sad to hear she had died last year, she was truly a talented artist.
I have been working on this new image for several weeks now. I wanted to have my fanciful birds in a forest setting. I loved working with all the different shades of color and texture. I was happy with the way it turned out. Prints are available in my Etsy shop and soon I will have note cards of this image also. Each image I am creating I try to push my self a little further as I get to know my bird a little better. Hopefully I hope to convey joy and love of God's beautiful creation!
I have been creating my images not just as fine art prints, but in note cards as well. I think these little birds make the perfect eye catcher for sending that special loved one a personal note. I'm selling the cards in packs of three. Check out my Etsy website for more information.
Come and look at this incredible jewelry from another fellow Etsy artist by the name of Elizabeth. She has been providing beautiful handcrafted jewelry from Oregon for over ten years. Her line of jewelry is one of the best selling lines of jewelry in national catalogs and dozens of stores. All her jewelry is genuine Sterling Silver, with gemstones, freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals with a touch of cubic Zirconia beads.
My children created some artwork at school in their art class that resembles batik. I was so proud how the images turned out. They used some acrylic or some tempra paint and the outline in Elmer's glue. Can't you tell I'm very proud of them? Maybe some of my talent is rubbing off on them.
