Matilda's Cottage

I like how the owners think outside the box as far as marketing to the community. They have music every Friday and Saturday night in their back lawn. This is definitely a must see if you are in the Atlanta area.

Barefoot in the Park
My daughther and I attended Barefoot in the Park festival last weekend that is held in downtown Duluth, Ga. Duluth is approximately 29 miles northeast of Atlanta. The show is something I am considering exhibiting in next year. The crowds were down this year due to other events going on in the area. If you live in the area or are visiting this is a great place for shopping in antiques stores, specialty shops, and quaint restaurants. I stopped by the booth of one artist to chat about her work. The Artist is Julia Speer who makes incredible ceramic pieces of women. She is also an art teacher in the local school system. I unfortunately left my camera at home so I took pictures with my camera phone so please excuse the resolution. You can see more of her work at her website.

La Ti Da!
I have been passing by this store for months saying I need to go check out this papier store called La Ti Da. I usually am on the run and not enough time to stop by because I have to be somewhere or get something. Finally I made it there today and was so impressed with all the store had to offer. They have a wide array of stationery, napkins, bridal gifts, baby gifts, teacher gifts and a full floral shop as well. There are some many great gift ideas and accent pieces for your home. I will definitely be coming back to La Ti Da!

Norcross Art Festival and other stuff
I have been meaning to show pictures of my last show a couple of weeks ago in Norcross. I walked this show last year and determined that this show fit my style of art. So I applied and got in the show! The show is very well organized with very helpful volunteers. The city of Norcross is very quaint with cute little shops and restaurants. There are several new lofts in the area for that downtown feel. You almost feel like your in downtown Atlanta. Even though the sales were definately not as much I had hoped (bank failures happened the week before) I would like to give it a try again next year.

Suwanee Day Festival
I exhibited in my first fall show this past weekend. Suwanee Day Festival was packed with people. My husband who makes circuit board clocks shared a booth with me. The crowds were pretty steady the whole day. I just sold only small items and my husband sold several clocks. The tear down took way too long, it was actually a nightmare. Our kids were able to help us some when they weren't skateboarding all over.
I was supposed to take a pictures of my booth, but forgot because of all the craziness. This is an older photo of my booth. My booth was much more filled compared to this picture.
To top it off the festival ended with lots of music and fireworks for a great ending. We saw the spectacular fireworks at home from our window.

HGTV Househunters
I got an email from church that the new Worship Arts Director and his family will be featured on Househunters. Several years ago when my youngest was a baby I was shall we say addicted to HGTV! I am a big fan of this channel! Unfortunately I no longer have this channel in my satellite package anymore, but I am so glad I know someone who is on one of the shows I used to watch. HGTV Rocks!!
